SPRING. I am born. I want to play, To learn to walk And laugh all day.
I hate school, Yet I love my friends. We’ll be together Until the end.
Teenage years Full of woe - yet life is new With places to go!

SUMMER.
I’m in my twenties - and going places! I have fun Meeting new faces.
I hate work, though. The boredom and stress. “Go there! Fetch that!” My mind is a mess!
I met someone With nowhere to go. We are together now And I love him so.
3 years on, I hear the patter Of tiny feet Making a clatter!
2 little girls And 2 little boys Playing in the garden - and making a noise!
What will they be When they grow up? Will they be rich, Or work in the muck?
I’m 39 now. Still in my prime - yet my teenage kids Give me a hard time!

AUTUMN.
I’m 40 now, With hair going grey - yet the children Still love to play!
My husband and I Went our separate ways. I’ll be alone now For the rest of my days.
All alone In the house. There’s nothing here now - not even a mouse.
The children have gone. Grown up and left home. They’ve found new places To call their own.
Life’s leaves are falling fast As my bones start to freeze, Yet life still brings surprises And days that are sure to please.
Soon I will be 55. Soon I’ll be a gran. Soon I’ll have to sit me down And make a new life plan.
Now I’m almost 60. Grandsons I have 2 - yet winter’s on the horizon And I’m in quite a stew!

WINTER.
Winter sees me Old and grey, In the twilight Of my days.
Yet I’m happy now, As I have seen All the riches That life can bring.
As the sun sets And life goes cold, I remember Being brave and bold.
I remember My time in the sun As my mind drifts back To when I was young.
I still see myself There, by the pool, Just 4 years old. Just started school.
I remember the love, The joy and the pain. I remember the woman That I became.
I remember each moment Of my time in the sun. I remember the laughter, The smiles and fun.
Each day of my life Has brought so much pleasure - and each little smile Is a moment to treasure!
I’m 80 years old now And winter has come - yet still I remember My life in the sun!
The trees are bare And full of gloom - yet the ice will soon melt And bring life anew...

I was just going through my old files when I came across these poems. To be honest, I’d forgotten all about them!
Anyway, I thought I’d dust them all off and share them with you.
All poems are (c) Lynnie August 2019.
