A box of medals, Is that what you are? Just faded memories, Locked in a drawer.
A faded photo. Is that what it’s worth? A subject of laughter, Of merriment and mirth.
A faded memory Of cities being bombed. A jaded memory Of losing loved ones.
With your eyes, What did you see? Did you see pain, Suffering and misery?
Did you see the bombs That fell from the sky? Did you watch helplessly As the children cried?
Did you see the hurt? Did you see the pain? Did you see your comrades Slowly go insane?
Did you see the fire? Did you see the torture? Did you see the faces Of the people who were butchered?
Was your heart pounding When your ship went down? Did you scream As comrades drowned?
With eyes full of anguish And a heart full of pain, You saw friends killed, You saw them maimed.
You fought the rising water, You fought against the flames. You tried to save their lives, But it was all in vain.
A box of memories, Of pain and neglect. Time moves on, Yet I’ll never forget!
